I have been working on the Internet Foundation for 27 years. One of the critical requirements is that all knowledge must be accessible in all spoken and written human languages. There are about 7000 languages and many hundreds routinely used on the Internet. Only about 100 are covered well with automatic translation but the technology is improving. Much of the STEMCFGO (science technology engineering mathematics computing finance governance “others”) information is concentrated in a few languages. It is not coincidental that artificial intelligence” – “AIs” started with LLM methods (large language models) which were tied to human languages translation. I have been trying to encourage all the separate, proprietary, disconnected “AI companies” to work together using global open tokens that are linked to a complete set of ideas and concepts in all languages. It is not possible to represent all things in all languages by text and visual symbols alone. Some languages have no written or visual script. But all humans (about 8.2 Billion now) can mostly speak and sign and convey knowledge and experiences. I applied this lesson to any human from any country on Earth living in another country (or place in the Solar system). A nice moral, a bit of hope and encouragement to do one’s best. And maybe, just maybe, human countries will learn not to under estimate or disregard “any human” no matter their origin, shape, or size.

Metric Conversion on the Internet, means it only has to be done once for all.
For the Internet Foundation and Internet standards, it is mostly SI but much deeper as AIs now depend on tokenization based on arbitrary strings made up by each group. But the Internet Standards cover all knowledge domains, and all content on the Internet and in communications. Getting it so “the speed of light” refers to one reference, with one value and units and dimensions, and traceable over all users and uses is possible now. Just a bit tedious, which computers can do very well, once trained properly.
Global open tokens focus conversion efforts and global collaborations, across all fields of knowledge, all human languages, all ages.
Each person could have their own translations, for transitions and history, but the storage is in standard units overall. Ten units for energy means 10^2 = 100 conversions. Same unit conversions are included (diagonal terms) because of so many abbreviations and text codings of scientific and technical materials often wrong. Coding of units can be done by the systems with absolute codes, not single letter abbreviations. Vastly simplifies maintenance and recognition mistakes.
Change the whole Internet and its coding and no country has to change but ought to. Encode all knowledge (being done now for AIs and other reasons) and handling it is possible.
