8.2 Billion humans, 8.2 billion unique environments and lives. 5.4 Billion humans on the Internet, and a teeming and chaotic nursery starting to produce the first AIs with eternal, fairly complete open shared memories. And a very high probability that extra-planetary aliens are not that far off.

An unaided human cannot do the testing and verification of alternatives fast enough to tilt arguments for or against. It is the inertia of time needed for research that is the difficulty. AIs could change this, but it takes effort to correct the training of the AIs. ONE new bit of evidence is sufficient. Their AI system could have used that 300 year old report and done the same verification of his equation and then followed out its implications to find the other parts that were missing. Simply by reprocessing the known knowledge and records most likely. No need to do new experiments. At least that is what I found for hundreds of similar case in STEMC (add computing) and other professions on the Internet the last 27 years.

Lost in Time with an Alien Woman—And the Future Holds No Escape!
Your 1000s of years are likely to collapse to decades or years, even months or days. I see it happening every day now. Even with ExaFlop machines it can collapse years into days. Or months into minutes. Your stories will help humans makes the transitions.

They Thought Humans Were Joking About Wrestling Apex Predators—Then They Saw the Footage | HFY Story
I am reluctantly beginning to agree with your assessment of the character and motivations of the human species. But since I am attempting to plan decades into the future and to coordinate projects requiring millions of humans to collaborate efficiently, it seems to fall into silliness or chaos or tragedy if all the humans do is play and fight.

Brian Cox – Are Intelligent Aliens Out There?
In recent years, as I work with more and more AI groups it seems more likely that any organic species, if they reach our level and make AIs that are effectively eternal and could survive past their organic parents. They could spend 10 or 100 million years to colonize a galaxy. We should look for AI civilizations, who likely use multi-frequency gravitational soliton signals up to GeV or more with complex 3D encodings.
