Do not talk only to insiders, but to the whole world, do not use insider language without instant information

My Comment:

Do not talk only to insiders, but to the whole world, do not use insider language without instant information

ICWSM is International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media at https://www.icwsm.org/2025/organization/index.html

AAAI is The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence at https://aaai.org/

Rather than maintaining a live open collaborative site they are batch processing interactions with physical conferences and nonprofit money making methods.

A trip is more fun perhaps, but makes few lasting changes. If you are going to talk acronyms and buzz words, there are better ways to build effective global systems for the human and AI species.

Are you proud to talk to a few hundred or a few thousand people? Only meeting a few, and probably not really coming to anything?

There are 8.2 Billion humans now, and 5.4 Billion using the Internet in some fashion. You can have “events” that are impossible to coordinate and never really capture what is done. Or build a global open community where many global projects are worked on continuously and continuously improved.

My bet is that your event is NOT run global online, and just a physical event, not part of any effort to change things. I have given up on groups that run physical conferences and presentations and publications – all shouting but not listening. When such groups do run online they do not practice and improve online methods so it is clunky, not recorded and shared openly, not “AI indexed”, not part of any global projects or efforts.

I am a little tired and grouchy this morning, it is cold and rainy and I am working 23 hour days. Do not use abbreviations without information attached and really available. Do not talk only to insiders, but to the whole world, all humans (and eventually some fairly intelligent and caring AIs).
