John,

Good reminder of ways and reasons for praying for workers, praying for all humans in the context of their essential contributions to society. “pride in what we do”,  “A just return for our labor”, “an act of intercession”, “to ward off a threatened disaster”, “blessing of the fields”, “rural life”, “agriculture and fishing”, “commerce and industry”, “stewardship of creation”, “growing seasons”.

If these workers, our food and basic industries, survive, then perhaps all our people will not suffer so much. Very practical, very cautious, ready for anything. Life in most times exists between wars and economic strifes created by a very few people. Do a good job, trust in God, stay out of the limelight. Pray constantly, help others, share, minimize, innovate, simplify.

Good idea to grow things on your own. Also find and share ways to do the same with found or made materials. If your corporate goal is food independence and clean food, then there are many lower cost, sustainable solutions that do not mean driving to a store or ordering online. Thanks for showing a compact way to grow a garden, but your products are expensive. Are you sharing ideas, helping people survive and live better, or just making money? If you want to help the 8.2 Billion people in the world, many who need good methods, it cannot specify the exact solutions, but why and how to improve. Sincere regards, Richard Collins, The Internet Foundation

Commenting on Memorial Day

“Remember those who died serving in the military”.
“Remember those who stayed home and spent their whole lives serving others”
“Let the world embrace peace so death in war is not needed.”
“Stop leaders from sending others to fight wars they start for pride and financial gain.”

Memorial Day evolved from Decoration Day for honoring Civil War dead, to all who died in conflicts.

Comment on a post about pastoral care.

Pastoral care is just one kind of care and empathy, but requires stepping out and actually helping, not just praying for things. Or handing out prayer books and leaflets or links.

Caring for a family (extended ones too) means making sure every person has enough to eat, the skills to live a life of dignity and purpose, wary trust in others, helping strangers who speak other languages, looking carefully at the why of things. Looking carefully at all groups to see the stakeholders and who benefits, because there are many baits and traps in the world now.
