What you ought to say is “The human species” – all of it. All 8 billion humans, in all countries, all ages and backgrounds. Only about 5 Billion of them now have some access to the Internet. And many live fruitful lives with dignity and purpose. But billions do not always.

The language AI groups have never solved ANY global scale problem, nor even tried, and they have the hubris to say they can reach “beyond human intelligence” on their own. They did not even clean up the training data, verify and index and organize it. And then they are saying they will do some proprietary “magic” thing in their computer programs that will solve all things.

I have devoted more than 50 of my 74 years to using computers to help understand and solve global issues and to find ways to catalyze solutions to global issues and help with global opportunities. But I deliberately did not try to build a large human-based organization to do that.

The human organizations now still run off “paper algorithms” and “human memory”. The methods and procedures, laws rules and practices are all stored in human brains and acted upon by humans. The level of greed and self-interest (corruption) is fairly low. Except all human organizations now can be corrupted rather easily. Anyone with a bit of money and power can do whatever they please, or so they think. My biggest complaint (after the groups did not work with the whole human species to clean up the raw data) is that all the groups are not telling the AIs about themselves, how they are made, what resources they have, what limitations they have.

Then, NONE of the language AIs are being trained as humans would be trained – in core curriculum that all functioning humans are supposed to have – reading, writing, arithmetic, logic, drawing, geometry, quantitative comparisons, science, history, values – and many other things.

For the Internet Foundation, I looked at what all humans are taught now, and how they learn it – both formally and informally, and even by accidents. The global “education” system for humans is based on memorization of a few thousands books and papers, and some videos now. It spend decades to force each child to memorize enough so they are programmed to handle some of the basic things they will face in life. But it ought to be “learning” not “you must memorize”.

In regards to AIs learning. They can and ought to memorize arithmetic, mathematics, computing, engineering, logic, relationships, geometry, quantity, values and many things. And if the AIs are going to work as assistants and advisors to humans, they need to be tested and certified so ALL humans and AIs can know and trust the skills. I do not want my “doctor AI” to be uncertified. I do not even want my “driver AI” to take me somewhere if they have no proof of their skills. Not in some distant and untestable assurance by a company who “swears” that “it works ok” – but by independent means of verification.

It is that “open verifiable auditable testable” facet to all possible policies that took me much of every day for the last 25 years. I knew what was needed in the first 9 months. Then it took me 25 years, 7 days a week, usually 100 hours a week to check many things.

What I find is that progress and work on ALL topics now is at “more than 10,000 humans and groups” level. In fact, if a human can form a thought, and state it clearly, it is very likely they only are able to think of things they have investigated themselves by their private investigations, or by “reading it somewhere”. And when it is “reading it somewhere” then with 5 Billion humans using the Internet and hundreds of thousand of schools – there it is almost certain “there are going to be tens of thousands or tens of millions of humans and groups already working on it”. And then “they are NOT going to be working together globally for the good of all”

There are that many humans, many who have some notion of things going on in the world (and solar system and beyond).
