I recently did a search for ionization mercury on the NIST site, and was surprised by the limited search interface. I’m providing some feedback here that hopefully may improve the usability of the site if taken under consideration.
The main point is to have a preview on hover mechanic. As there are lots of similar results with a minimal amount of information provided for each result in the list. Having a preview on hover for the page being linked to would save a lot of time in terms of reducing the effort required to evaluate results.
More search tools such as being able to search by organization type, or by type of publication. Having the ability to choose the number of results per page. And an improved pagination at the bottom for iterating through pages would also make the search function much easier to use.
